"It is Power." from The Labyrinth, by Catherynne M. Valente, aka catvalente. Quite by chance a disappointing and unrevealing result from a fascinating book.

Speaking of books, the Sci Fi Channel is starting its mini-series based on Ursula K. LeGuin's Earthsea trilogy tonight. In fact, I'm watching it now. Frankly, I don't expect much. Already, just the first few minutes don't seem to have at all the feel I remember from the books. I haven't read the novels in years and somehow I left my copies in Portland. Naturally I'll have to pick up a new set and read them again. I've noticed that LeGuin weaves the atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest, where she lives, into all of her works -- always portending rain.

I thought I should let you know I just did this out of complete boredom, and this is what i got:

"A conference was set for October 28-30, 1980."

October 28th, 1980, is the day I was born.

STRANGE.
